Remind me again...why?

This is one of those days where I need to be reminded why I'm in this field. I truly believe our kids have had their brains sucked out by aliens. OMG!!! The simplest task appears to be beyond their collective abilities. They cannot even eat a meal successfully. Somebody stop the madness!!!!!!!!!!
OK, that's over. I'm better now. Maybe Indiana does truly suffer from sectional fever, maybe the kids really are this into school spirit; who knows maybe the 8th grade can build a monument to basketball in the next hour with masking tape, construction paper and Christmas lights.
How is Andrew today, Jill? Nothing more troubling than an adult child, I know. When they are kids we can cuddle them and make everything rosy, but when they become adults their issues are too big even for Mamas. Do you have a good counselor friend to talk to him? (angela) You could speak to Andrew as a counselor rather than a mom, but that is pretty touchy. The advice is the same; he needs to get off the couch, become productive in something and start sleeping and eating regularly. Simple. Except....Really, encouraging him to stop this cycle is the most important step. If he has to stay up for 24 hours then start a new routine, so be it. He needs to shake this up abit and restart.
Allison, hearing about the boys was great, they remind me of mine 30 years ago. Always into something, always planning their next exploit. And your farm, like ours, offers unlimited resources for them. They are lucky little guys. I hope you are not close to a river; ours once built a raft from foam cubes and floated down the Patoka. They hadn't given any thought to how they would get back up stream. It was a long day.
I'm off the Weight Watchers. The pounds are holding on tight, but I've shaken off a few this month. I'm trying to become the world's saggiest woman, I guess. Where did all this extra skin come from and what do I do with it now that it is down around my knees? Picture that, Gaggle.
Take care.

Well I agree with Hedy today...it has been pretty crappy. I have this parent who is killing me! I won't go into the whole story, but...she wants her sons schedule changed (which is a long story in its self) however my principal says it is not changing. So, yesterday I called to tell her and it did not go well, she hung up on me. So, today she calls and wants a meeting with the principal and I, however my principal wants nothing to do with this but she still wants me to meet with her just with the instruction not to change his schedule. It did not go well to say the least...it was a very high stress situation. So mom calls central office and raises hell, I;m sure saying not nice things about me. So tonight principal calls me and now says we will both meet with her tomorrow! The situation just won't die! I don't know why I let a parent get to me but she is out of control. She wrote down everything I said to her in the meeting so I had to carefully choose my words and it was very hard to bite my tongue a few times! Anyway, sorry for the bitch fest but i know you will understand. I miss you all and can't wait to see you!

Shame on your principal for letting you take the heat. When a parent requests a meeting an administrator should be there not send a 1st year counselor in to be eaten. Hang in there, Anna, everyone there probably knows this parent and what you experienced with her. Write your own transcript of those encounters, present it to your principal and elegantly hold your tongue during tomorrow's meeting. Give them your "Swedish Ice Maiden" pose. The Gaggle is behind you, just honk, we'll swoop in to the rescue. See you soon, Hedy

ok...i just have to throw this out......

whenever frontier is on delay or out of school, i try to remember to call angela so she knows. called her with the 2-hr delay, talked to scott, asked him to pass on message. get second call 2 hrs. later saying no school. tried to call angela at home, but dialed brookston instead of chalmers....man answers.....i said scott? he replied with "there's no scott here, bitch." and hung up the phone. WTF????? this is why the kids are they way they are...their father's are rude, foul-mouthed fucking bastards!!!!

wink, wink

I am typing this in hopes that I actually remember my password this time. I have had several failed attempts, but trust me when I tell you my words were both soothing and eloquent. =)

I must tell you that I have experienced more kids "coming out" and "knocked up" (and even a girl who falls under both umbrellas) than I ever cared to deal with. And now, we have more kids growing up with teenage parents, absent fathers or grandparents raising them. I wish the kids had my libido and I had theirs, the world would be a happier place, or at least J.D. would be happier...

I am in the midst of scheduling, it has been quite a process! I am currently on the freshmen to be sophomores. I love to ask them if they have thought about what they want to do after high school, the answers are so refreshing...civil engineer, Nurse Practitioner, elementary school teacher, farmer, PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING SCHOOL...what the hell... No seriously, there are about 10 kids from our school of 591 that intend to become professional wrestlers. I am trying to encourage them b/c I think I would make a really great manager! Imagine the wardrobe I could get away with!!! I thought counseling was my calling, turns out it was just the fastrack to success as Mrs. Vixen, wrestling manager!!!
